The Diversity Committee works to foster and assist PLATO members in learning about the issues of diversity, inequality, and injustice in the greater Madison area and to promote a culturally inclusive learning environment in PLATO.
The Diversity Committee's primary purpose is to assist PLATO in achieving its goal “to strengthen its charge of educating PLATO members regarding injustice, poverty, and inequality in greater Madison.” In other words, our issue is to change ourselves. This is to be done through outreach, education and increased awareness of our broader (wider) community.
The Diversity Committee provides a bibliography of materials related to diversity issues and offers "Diversity Picks" -- information on local events, readings, and other diversity-related activities. Click here for their current Reading Recommendation.
