Crimes of the 21st Century: Scams Targeting Seniors

Did you know that according to the FBI, more than 50% of fraud victims are senior citizens. Learn more about the multitude of ways seniors are targeted. Fraud in health care, computer support, home repair, charity, and funeral/cemetery purchases are only a few of the ways seniors are cheated every year. Adam will talk about how these and other scams are perpetrated and he will also describe what individuals should do to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of consumer fraud.

Speaker: Adam Schrager  (Adam runs the investigative unit at WISC-TV in Madison. Most of us have seen Adam’s reports on consumer scams on TV.  He has an undergraduate degree in history from Michigan and a graduate degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern.  In his 25 year reporting career, he has won numerous accolades including nearly 30 Emmy awards. In addition to his reporting career, Adam is the author of 3 well received books on politics and science.
