What is so rare as a day in June?
Come join your fellow PLATO friends for a scenic drive to Wollersheim Winery where we will have a docent led tour followed by wine tasting, shopping in the gift shop and perhaps a peak at the new distillery.
The building and grounds are beautifully landscaped and everything should be in bloom at that time of year. Now, let's hop back on the bus and continue on along the Wisconsin River and into the Baraboo Hills for lunch.
Wollersheim Winery - Named "2015 Small Winery of the Year" at the Riverside International Wine Competition.

The Log Cabin Family Inn is a comfortable restaurant with a log cabin feel.
Our lunch will consist of the following choices:
Classic Cabin Chef Salad: Freshly sliced ham, turkey, and bacon with shredded cheddar, tomatoes and boiled eggs over crisp fresh greens. Served with garlic bread
Barbecue Chicken Supreme: Juicy chicken topped with barbecue sauce, bacon, swiss and colby cheese, served on homemade sourdough bread. Served with fries
Boca Burger: Veggie patty served between grilled seven grain bread with crisp fresh lettuce and tomatoes. Served with fries.
Gluten free bread may be substituted.
A variety of beverages and chocolate chip cookies will be included.
Please indicate your menu choice upon registering.
Our next stop will be the International Crane Foundation where we will begin with a video and then explore the beautiful prairie and crane enclosure. Our tour guide will have lots of information about the various varieties of cranes and their habitats and will gladly answer your questions.
At the end of the tour we will have a private presentation by one of the crane experts on the ongoing project to protect and encourage growth of the Whooping Crane population. This is a seriously endangered species.

Please Note: This trip will involve walking on uneven terrain, a small hill at the winery and extensive walking at the Crane Foundation. We will be outdoors during the afternoon, so please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and comfortable shoes. A day bag with water and snacks, as well as your camera, is advised.
