Join your PLATO friends at Indian Summer Festival 2018 on Saturday, September 8 in Milwaukee, from 12 noon – 4:00 PM!  This year’s theme is “Teachings from the Turtle’s Back”.

Indian Summer guests will enjoy and learn from the “Circle of Art” (art by artists from many native traditions), the “Gathering Place” (community service organizations that provide support for native peoples), the “Natural Path” (holistic healing methods along with the presence of conventional community physical and mental health service organizations), and “Living Culture Area” (many cultural traditions displayed, shared and demonstrated).

Of course, the main event, the “Contest Pow Wow”, will showcase the talents of native dancers in full, colorful regalia accompanied by drum circles and traditional songs.

We will arrive at the Saturday Indian Summer Festival at 12 noon, in time to leisurely make our way to the Pow Wow area for the start of the Pow Wow with the Grand Entry at 1:00 PM.  Indian Summer guests will have time to view initial dance competition, visit the art and cultural areas or just sit and enjoy traditional native foods.

Note: Schedule of Events and Festival Map to be announced. Monitor the Indian Summer Festival 2018 website for new information as it becomes available.

Dress for the weather being mindful that the Indian Summer Festival is an outdoor event held on the Summerfest grounds on Milwaukee’s lakefront.
