Come From Away

A musical about the small Newfoundland town that touched the world after 9/11

Cadillac Palace Theater

August 14, 2019

The national tour of Come From Away, a new musical about the true story of the small town that welcomed the world, will make its Chicago debut at Broadway In Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre for a limited engagement.

Book, Music & Lyrics by Irene Sankoff & David Hein

Nominated for eight Tony Awards and nine Drama Desk gongs, this is a musical that celebrates human endurance, compassion and bravery under dreadful circumstances. On September 11th 2001, as the full horror of the terror attacks became apparent, 38 planes were forced to land in Gander, a remote Newfoundland town with a population of just 9,000 people. The arrival of the passengers boosted those numbers to nearly 20,000. Come From Away focuses on a single set of passengers from one flight and the Gander residents who welcomed them into their homes. Amongst this diverse set of characters is American Airlines' first female pilot, a gay couple both called Kevin, and an Egyptian chef. Don’t miss this surprise hit that’s the true story of a small town that touched the world.

Estimated Run Time: 1 hour 40 minutes, no intermission (2:00 PM - 3:40 PM)

The Cadillac Palace Theater, 151 W Randolph St., is one of Chicago's grandest venues, built in 1926 and boasting a lush French Baroque interior modelled on the Palace of Versailles. During World War II, the theatre's interior was painted white to trick the government, who needed brass for ammunition. It was later rediscovered and restored to the original state.  Its beautiful appearance alone attracts theatre lovers worldwide. This theatre is a top venue located in Chicago that hosts the biggest and best Broadway shows ever written.  It is handicapped accessible and air conditioned.

We will travel by Badger Bus.  Bus is equipped with bathroom and WiFi.
