About the event

This talk will focus on cryptocurrencies, which are, arguably, a new type of financial asset. Join a discussion that will address what cryptocurrencies are, look at the most promising cryptocurrency projects that are gaining traction in the real economy, and consider the hurdles to broader consumer adoption.

Speaker

Brad Chandler, director, Nicholas Center for Corporate Finance and Investment Banking at the Wisconsin School of Business

About the speaker

At the Nicholas Center, Chandler is responsible for administering the center’s specialized programming focused on both master of business administration and undergraduate students, as well as teaching a number of its core courses. Chandler teaches the first-ever cryptocurrencies/blockchain class at the UW, which is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. In December 2018, the Nicholas Center published “Top Student Perspectives on Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies,” which highlighted research performed by students in this discipline. In addition, Chandler advises a number of student groups including the Graduate Finance Organization, the Investment Banking Club, and Badger Blockchain. Prior to joining the center in 2017, Chandler was a managing director in the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley in New York City. He earned his doctor of law and master of business administration degrees from the University of Chicago, received a bachelor of arts degree in public policy from Duke University, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
