The term begins with the revolution in the Democratic Party in 1896 and the demise of Populism. We then turn to the Spanish-American War and the rise of America to global power. . The class will examine in some detail the Progressive Movement under Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson and its end in World War I. We will then take a look at the "Roaring Twenties" and conclude with the election of President Herbert Hoover in 1928.
