This course is open to new and former students. It will feature some guest poets/speakers and will consist of two parts: I. Study/analysis of cultural poetry and II. Writing following cultural models. We will cover the following cultural themes: Asian poetry [China, Japan, Korea and others], LGBT poetry [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered], Middle-Eastern poetry [Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Turkey and others], African poetry [Morocco, Algeria, South Africa and others], Poetry of the disabled [Physical, Developmental, Hearing- and Sight-impaired]. One final paper is required. A modest $10 fee required for copying of handouts.
