Join us to learn some history of surveillance, to increase your awareness of the related present-day problems and to discuss world issues raised by the combination of surveillance and technology. Using the Great Courses video series by Prof. Paul Rosenzweig, of George Washington University Law School, we will watch one 30-minute lecture per meeting and spend the rest of the time discussing the topics which include: Liberty, Security, Privacy; East Germany’s Stasi State; The U S Spy Network; The Charlie Hebdo Affair; Geolocation; The First Amendment; The Panopticon Effect. We offer a comfortable and inviting space on the east side and welcome newcomers.
