In a time when more than 40% of the American people believe that the earth is less than 10,000 years old, it is important to understand the scientific evidence for Darwinian evolution. While recognizing that no single book can capture the overwhelming importance of Darwin's work to all of biology, we shall read Dawkin’s most recent book The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution, as a study guide. The course format is a 30 minute lecture followed by a 1.5 hour discussion.  Links to additional course material are in the class notes below. The book can be obtained in either Free Press 2009 or 2010 edition, ISBN 9781416594789 or 9781416594796.
