Reading Fyodor Dostoevsky

John and Jan Kinar 608-238-2826

The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for.” We will ponder these words, and confront the Grand Inquisitor as we read Fyodor Dostoevsky’s classic novel, The Brothers Karamazov. It is important that we all use the same text because reference will regularly be made to specific page numbers. We will be using the Farrar, Straus, Giroux edition with ISBN number 0374528373. This paperback edition is translated by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. For the first class meeting please read Books One and Two of Part 1 (pages 7-91).
