Writing Nonfiction

Name Email Phone
Judi K-Turkel judi@booksthatteach.com 608-231-1003

Long a professional nonfiction writer, Judi will share the tips that won awards from National Press Club (for Best Consumer Journalism of 1985 and 1986) and continuing membership in Authors Guild and the American Society of Journalists and Authors. She’ll help you select your best attack, create the right outline, construct a catchy beginning, organize your thoughts and roll them out. She’s written on topics as diverse as scientific and medical advances for Omni and Science Digest, psychology for Playgirl and Weight Watchers Magazine, travel for McCalls and Women’s World, on self-help, human interest -- and on education in nine award-winning books. Bring pen, paper, and thoughts about what you’ve wanted to tell others about. We will be using the book Secrets to Writing Great Papers by Judi Kesselman-Turkel  and Franklynn Peterson (available at Amazon and from publisher University of Wisconsin Press at about $4). Warning:  Don't expect chatty "share" times heaped with lots of praise.  Instead, brace for blunt, honest critiques and a professional's help with your efforts to hone your best nonfiction writing work.
