The course provides training in, and background information about, mindfulness meditation. Itseeks a balance between easy accessibility and faithfulness to Buddhist origins. That Buddhist background is presented in a secular manner, which avoid a focus on ritual, cosmology, etc.A central resource is the Satipatthana Sutta-first organized in written form in what is known as the Pali Canon in the first century BCE. Participants will learn and practice and various types and lengths of mindfulness meditation. Participants will gain an understanding the theoretical basis of mindfulness meditation as viewed through a secular Buddhist lens.
