Course will cover the period of 1960-1975. It will focus on the fundamental changes that happened politically, culturally, etc., that significantly changed our nation and set the stage for many of the issues and challenges that we are still confronting today. Particular emphasis will be on the civil rights movement, Vietnam War, The Great Society, the reconfiguration of politics, divisions in cultural values, the rising youth culture, the women’s movement, the sexual revolution, the music, changes in technology, etc.

There is not an “official” text-book. Each week links to readings will be emailed to participants. Classes will include video presentations, discussion, and optional presentations by participants. Access to email and the internet are required for participants. Regular attendance is expected.
