The focus of this course is to read and critique contemporary mystery novels and short stories. Members take turns leading the discussions focusing on the author, the setting, character and plot development, and story conclusion. Books and stories are chosen at the end of each semester for the next semester. Full-length novels alternate weekly with short stories. The first novel is Set In Darkness by Ian Rankin. The short stories are selected from the short story anthology The Best American Mystery Stories 2016. Novels are available from the South Central Library System. Anthologies are usually purchased. Limited photo-copying is expected.
