“Reading poetry is an adventure in renewal, a creative act, a perpetual beginning, a rebirth of Wonder” (E. Hirsch). We will read and analyze a wide range of poems through lectures and discussions. Our text is Poets Choice by Edward Hirsch- Pub. Harcourt Books, 2006 ($17). Supplement with: The Essential Poet's Glossary, Pub. Houghton-Miflin, 2017- ($16). For the first class read: the Introduction, Preface, (pp.3-5 poems by Vallejo, Hikmet and Amichai) Nightingales (pp. 7-9, poem by Borges), Sappho (pp. 22-24, poem by Sappho), M. Wrybek (pp. 329-331 poem by Wrybek), Peter Everwine (pp. 335-336 poem by Everwine.
