Concerning Prices of Theater Trips.pdf

Join us Thursday, November 17th, for the American Players Theatre (APT) play, Stones in His Pockets, by Marie Jones. The "two-hander," where Nate Burger and Marcus Truschinski play every role, was the winner of the 2001 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. Directed by Tim Ocel.

Due to the popularity of this show, it is nearly sold out before its opening. APT has added another performance, sure to sell out as well, but you are assured of a seat with your PLATO ticket!

Synopsis:

Rural Ireland gets a shot of Hollywood glam, and a village is sent spinning. Two down-on-their-luck men in a down-on-its-luck Irish town are given what they hope is a chance at the good life. Jake and Charlie have been cast as extras in a Hollywood movie--a shaft of light through the clouds of their dreary rural existence. Like most sets, this one is rife with drama on stage and off, some hilarious and some heartbreaking, as the American cast and crew try to immerse themselves in Jake and Charlie’s culture, and vice-versa. This unique and enthralling tragicomedy was originally slated for the 2020 season.

PLATO's Covid Protocol

By registering for this event you agree to the following:

1. Masks are not required while on this field trip except for inside the Touchstone Theatre--an APT requirement. Proof of vaccination is NOT required.

2. However, persons wishing to wear a mask are encouraged to do so.

3. Health protocols are subject to change as conditions change; PLATO reserves the right to change the protocols for this trip accordingly.

4. You are asked to stay home if you are not feeling well. Please contact the trip organizer to inform them of your decision.

Please note: social distancing will not be available on the bus, at lunch or in the theater.

Estimated Run Time: 2 hours and 5 minutes, including intermission.

Seating:  Stones in His Pockets will be staged in APT's 201-seat indoor Touchstone Theatre, where every seat is a good one. It's about a 5-minute stroll from the parking lot, up a gentle slope (though there is a shuttle available if you prefer to ride). The path leads through the prairie to a beautiful, modern, intimate, and climate-controlled facility. Once inside, you'll find a gift shop, concession stand and restrooms--the same amenities as the Hill Theatre (but to slightly smaller scale). More information about this theater.

Lunch: We will be stopping at the cozy country restaurant The Old Feed Mill in Mazomanie for an early lunch, which is included in the price of registration. The meal will include soup, sandwich buffet, veggie tray, non-alcoholic beverages, and assorted bars and cookies. (There are no lunch options at APT in November.)

Accessibility Policy: On the bus you must be able to climb steps to board and exit. If you need assistance, we require that you bring a friend to give you a hand.

Guest Policy: Members must register their guests. Each PLATO member is entitled to bring one non-member guest per bus trip. (Members may bring more than one guest near the registration deadline date if seats are available.) Check with trip organizer. Non-member guests pay an additional fee. PLATO Membership is $60.00/year.
