This semester we will dedicate ourselves to reading one of the central works of world literature. Leo Tolstoy’s novel, War and Peace, chronicles the stories of five families from 1805 to 1820 (Napoleonic Wars). Known for its abundance of characters, it is also acclaimed for its universality.

We will read the Richard Pevear & Larissa Volokhonsky translation published by Vintage Classics (ISBN 9781400079988).
