This semester we will continue reading 19th Century Russian literature with two more classics. We will start with “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky. We will next read “Fathers and Children” by Ivan Turgenev. If we have time we may also read a short novel or play by Anton Chekhov.

For the first class read Part 1 of “Crime and Punishment.” We will be using the Oliver Ready translation in the Penguin Deluxe edition, ISBN: 978-0143107637.

For “Fathers and Children” we will use the Michael R. Katz translation in the Norton Critical Editions (2nd Edition), ISBN: 978-0393927979.
