Join us on April 13th as we journey to the Milwaukee Art Museum for the annual Art in Bloom exhibit.

Spring comes alive at the Milwaukee Art Museum in April.  Stunning art-inspired floral installations will be set among three floors of collection galleries in the museum.  Marketplaces will be filled with flowers, clothing, purses, jewelry, beauty products, garden accessories, and more from local vendors and artisans.

Over 10,000 guests visit the Milwaukee Art Museum throughout the four-day event to view the magnificent colors of spring and experience the art in the museum in fresh ways. To learn more about the Art in Bloom 2018 event, go to its webpage.

We will arrive at the museum at 10:00 A.M  and we will leave at 3:00 P.M.  You will have plenty of time to view the floral displays and the art, do some shopping, and enjoy a leisurely lunch.  In addition, you may want to view other special art exhibits on display, including the major exhibition, Coming Home: Winslow Homer & England.   And if the weather is nice, you could take a stroll outside along the shore of Lake Michigan.

Lunch will be on your own with some suggestions listed below.

In the Milwaukee Art Museum there are three places to eat:

Café Calatrava:  Whether for a quick bite or a full meal, Café Calatrava is a lovely restaurant with views of Lake Michigan and an ever-changing menu of contemporary cuisine and beverages.  Check their web site here.  Reserve a table via phone at 1-414-224-3831 or online at Opentable.

Windhover Coffee:  It’s located in the sourtheast corner of Windhover Hall, overlooking Lake Michigan.  You will find locally roasted coffee, other beverages, snacks and fresh pastries from independent local bakers.  Sandwiches and salads are made to order.  Check out their menu here.

East End Wine Bar:  Located in the northeast corner of the new East End addition, overlooking Lake Michigan.  The wine bar serves coffee, tea, beer, wine and fresh desserts from Rocket Baby Baker.  European-style small plates are also available.  See their menu here.

Outside of the museum within easy walking distance:

Harbor House, 550 Harbor House Drive (south of the Museum).  Check out their website here.
