The PLATO Diversity Committee invites everyone to come learn about the wonderful work of the Second Harvest Food Bank and the many volunteer opportunities available (all with flexible scheduling.)
We will begin with a presentation by Kristopher Tazelaar, Communications Manager, and Pam Higham, Volunteer Services Coordinator, about the Second Harvest work to end hunger in Southwest Wisconsin. This will be followed by a tour of the warehouse facility - about a half block down the street.
Afterwards we will return to the Administrative Services Building for general conversation/information sharing about volunteering.
Since 1986 Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin has put more than 100 million meals on the tables of the 1 in 8 who are facing hunger in southwestern Wisconsin. We work together with hundreds of local hunger-relief charities to provide the peace-of-mind people get when they know they have enough food. We are also a member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of member food banks and the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization.
Yet despite the millions of meals we’ve been able to provide as a result of our generous donors over the years, there is still a gap between the number of meals we provide and the number of meals needed.
