Mark Twain's River of Song @ Milwaukee Rep
Stackner Cabaret
Sunday, March 10th, 2019

From the creators of The Rep’s hit production Back Home Again: On The Road With John Denver comes this exploration of the music and culture of America’s first superhighway, the Mississippi River.

From the iron red water in Minnesota to the deep, dark Southern Delta, the river carries the stories and songs of the people. Come take a ride on the Mississippi— guided by the voices of the men and women who lived and worked on the river, tied together with the observations and insights of the Mississippi’s most famous traveler, Mark Twain. Performed by three world-class musicians, including David Lutken (Woody Sez, John Denver), it’s a journey through America’s Heartland and features traditional songs like “Dance Boatmen Dance,” “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child,” and “Deep River Blues.”

Run Time: Two Hours (one intermission)

Learn more by visiting the Mark Twain's River of Song website regarding the cast, video clips of cast performances, interviews & rehearsals, and all the latest news as opening day (January 18) draws near.

Mark Twain's River of Song will be staged in the intimate Stackner Cabaret. The Stackner Cabaret is handicapped accessible to the main level and chairs. Most of our seating will be on staggered tables and chairs set on platform deck flooring that are an easy, shallow step-down/step-up between levels of tables and chairs. The backs of the chairs provide good step-down/step-up support.

Directions to the Stackner Cabaret: From the Milwaukee Rep’s Wells Street entrance, walk straight ahead to the atrium dome. The Stackner Cabaret is located on the 2nd floor. Take the elevator or escalator. From the 2nd floor elevator exit, walk around to the left into the promenade. From the escalator, you arrive in the promenade. Stackner Cabaret entrance is ahead on the left.
