FALL COURSES NEW! Tuesday, August 20: The fall course schedule is available on the Courses page – contact the course coordinator to register.
Choose from 34 courses: 20 in-person, 12 virtual and 2 hybrid options.
Most fall courses will begin the week of September 16.
CURRICULUM SHOWCASE Partake in our "Weekly Fall Courses Quiz" to explore your options for participation this semester:

2. By what other name(s) is the Lunyu known?
3. Are you a music afficionado? Do you see the influences of your favorite music genre in modern American popular music? In what class can you have a lively discussion on the topic?

COFFEE GATHERING
THIS WEEK! Fourth Friday Coffee on August 23 from 9:30-11:30am at the Rotunda Café on Atwood Ave. Connect with fellow PLATO members over a cup of coffee or tea. Feel free to bring a friend or family member who might be interested in PLATO! Learn more and RSVP here.

FIELD TRIP

Register today for this fascinating Tour of Yerkes Observatory on Monday, October 7, 2024.Often called "the birthplace of modern astrophysics", this 90-minute tour will touch on a range of topics including astrophysics, architecture, local history, photography, engineering, art and more. Afterward, enjoy two hours in Lake Geneva for lunch and to explore the downtown on your own. The registration deadline is September 22 and members may bring a guest. Learn more and register here.

DID YOU KNOW? for August 13 – 26, 2024
Warren M. Washington (b. 1936), the second African-American to earn a doctorate in the atmospheric sciences, received the highest scientific honor bestowed by the U.S. President, the National Medal of Science, for his fundamental contributions to the understanding of Earth's coupled climate system through numerical simulation, leadership in U.S. science policy, and inspiring mentorship of young people of all backgrounds and origins.
