Introducing Dennis Connor, Guide
Dennis Connor is the Land Manager for a number of County Parks and Wildlife Areas including Indian Lake County Park.
The 1255-acre Walking Iron Wildlife Area is a public hunting area located north of Walking Iron County Park and the Village of Mazomanie and south of the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway. Walking Iron Wildlife Area offers multiple trails through 898 acres of land hosting waterfowl, deer and turkey. Lands east of CTH Y are being restored to prairie. Lands south of Amenda Road are being restored to oak savanna and offer excellent opportunities for deer and turkey viewing. Cone with us to see a large riverine area before it has implemented the conservation plans.
This will be a two and 1/2 mile walk along several trails through mostly flat with some rolling terrain at a moderate pace with stops for information.
COVID-19 Safety Protocols
We will follow Dane County COVID-19 safety protocols in place at the time of the walk. By registering for this event, you:

- Acknowledge that going on the walk is voluntary and a personal decision. PLATO recommends full compliance with safety standards: masks, social distancing, and handwashing. We are not responsible for enforcing public health orders.
Our leaders will have directional microphones to assist in delivering the message clearly as possible. The microphones have added greatly to the quality of the conversations as we walk and make informational stops along the way.
