Join retired WPR talk show host Joy Cardin and the Director of the Marquette Law School Poll Charles Franklin for a Noon Zoom discussion about public opinion, polling and politics on Tuesday, September 1 from 12-1 pm.
The fall campaign is in full swing. What do the results of the first Marquette Law School Poll of the general election tell us about voters and how they see the candidates, parties and issues? We’ll welcome your questions and opinions too!
Noon Zooms are a new PLATO Madison offering available to members. These occasional virtual discussions will feature a host and guest expert discussing an issue in the news with the opportunity for attendees to join in the discussion. The offering is free, but you need to register to receive the Zoom link.
Charles Franklin is Professor of Law and Public Policy at Marquette Law School, where he has directed the Marquette Law School Poll since 2012. In that time, he has conducted more than 100 polls of Wisconsin and the nation.
The Marquette Law School poll is ranked 2nd of over 500 pollsters nationally by Nate Silver and ranked 3rd by FiveThirtyEight.com, the only poll with a perfect 10 score for transparency in reporting methodology and results.
Franklin was Professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin Madison for 22 years before leaving to join the Marquette Law School in 2012. He is past president of the Society for Political Methodology and an elected Fellow of the Society. Along with his co-author, Liane Kosaki, Frankin received the Lasting Contribution Award of the Law and Courts Section of the American Political Science Association. He also received the Warren J. Mitofsky Innovators Award from the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
From 2002 to 2020 he was a member of the ABC News election night Decision Desk. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan.
