PLATO FILM & LECTURE:

FROM THE HOLOCAUST TO CIVIL RIGHTS

Join us on Tuesday, December 5 at 1:30pm in Oakwood Village West's Auditorium for a one hour presentation with PowerPoint slides and video in which three sisters present the story of their pilgrimage to Germany and France to retrace their grandmother’s recently discovered, tragic and shocking murder during the Holocaust.

Their grandmother was a victim of a Nazi crime designed to demonstrate the inferiority of Jews. She was murdered in 1943 at a concentration camp in France, near the University of Strasbourg.
Their father left Berlin alone at age 14 in 1936. He came to the US on May 1, 1939 and in 1945 became a US citizen and an ordained Presbyterian minister. In 1965, he traveled from his Milwaukee church on the UW-Milwaukee campus and joined Dr. King and the Selma Marchers on their Civil Rights march to Montgomery, Alabama.
The Simon sisters discuss how this history influenced their father, the Rev. Dr. Carl R. Simon, and his work for social justice and human rights. They describe his trip to Alabama in 1965 to support the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Selma March.

Registration is not required and parking is ample and free!
Enter through the main Heritage Oaks entrance located at 6205 Mineral Point Rd.
