Mary Ann Shadd Cary
(October 9, 1823 – June 5, 1893) was an African-American anti-slavery activist, an advocate for women's rights, a teacher, and a lawyer. She also served as an advocate for the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments at a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
