Join us for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill- the second play in our eight-play Milwaukee Rep field trip series. It will be staged in true cabaret fashion.
The Stackner Cabaret provides a lighter version of live theater. Located on the 2nd Floor, this venue is much more intimate and very close to the stage and the performers. You will be seated at tables with wait staff, from whom which you can order appetizers, snacks and beverages from its full bar service. (124 Seating Capacity)
A TRIBUTE TO A WOMAN WHO SHAPED SO MUCH MORE THAN JAZZ AND BLUES.
As the 1950s come to a close, the famous Billie Holiday puts on a show in a small bar in Philadelphia. Unbeknownst to the audience, they will witness one of the last performances of her extraordinary life. Full of show stopping numbers like “God Bless the Child,” “Strange Fruit,” and “What a Little Moonlight Can Do,” Lady Day shares her loves and losses in this award-winning musical fresh from its Broadway revival. Pull up a chair for an intimate evening that’s up close and personal, with one of the greatest jazz/blues vocalists of all time!
WHAT’S LADY DAY AT EMERSON’S BAR AND GRILL? SHOULD I SEE IT?
Who doesn’t like jazz music? And who did it better than Billie Holiday? The Stackner Cabaret is transformed into a Philadelphia bar at one of Billie Holiday’s last concerts. Listen to the sultry music and hear incredible stories of Lady Day’s life.
