DID YOU KNOW? for September 27 – October 10, 2022

Did You Know… What do the famed ‘round barns of Wisconsin’ owe to the son of a former slave? Many of the round barns, especially in southwest Wisconsin, were the work of Alga Shivers whose father operated the largest “negro-owned” farm in the state in 1900. Shivers became widely known for his skill in the design and construction of round barns, most of which were built between 1890 and 1930.

DID YOU KNOW? – spotlighting notable contributions made by non-mainstream individuals you might not have learned or read about. Suggestions for inclusions are welcome (send to Kathy at: ksmichaelis@gmail.com).
